Have you always wished for that grand historic wedding venue which can transport you back in time from the moment you arrived? If so, we have no doubt you’ll fall in love with the Cowdray Estate.
This extraordinary country residence is situated in the town of Midhurst in West Sussex and last November I was so lucky to have been invited by preferred caterer (and good friends) Caper and Berry to Cowdray House for an evening of pure indulgence. Driving through the 110 acres of private garden landscapes and hills up to the entrance was like taking a step back in time.
Upon arrival I was swept up to my FABULOUS bedroom – one of their 15 impressive rooms – to open a bottle of champagne (well they had already unfoiled it so it would have been rude not to!), and indulge in the most fantastic bath.
Once presentable, I headed downstairs to the library where British institution Nyetimber was flowing alongside the sesame seared swordfish canapes.
Being just 30 or so of us that night, we dined in one of the more intimate spaces but the impressive Buck Hall can seat up to 150 guests and it really will blow every one of them away! For larger events, the venue can also host a marquee for up to 600.
The menu was as exciting as the estate; scallops and lobster, duo of beef, spiced pumpkin latte cake, you name it. Afterwards we had the chance to explore the surrounding areas. Fancy playing polo, golf? Or perhaps unwind and soak in the surrounding views from one of the outdoor private pools. You can be sure your wedding guests will never be short of things to do during their stay.
All in all, it was a flawless evening in a truly special venue.
