‘I love you, not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.’
An extract from Love by Roy Croft, a reading that featured in the wedding ceremony
This one is an ISWD favourite; we are thrilled to showcase such blissful summertime nuptials at the fabulous Stoke Place. The wedding of Jennifer and Marcus was a totally family orientated celebration that just radiated warmth and empathy. Crammed full of elegant design details, it was accompanied by bucket loads of joy. The very essence of this feeling was captured superbly on the day by Neil Walker.
The Vital Statistics
Who: The bride and groom, Jennifer and Marcus and their 120 guests.
Where: St Michael’s CofE Church, Beaconsfield for the traditional church ceremony, followed by a memorable reception at Stoke Place.
When: Saturday 29th June 2013
The Background Details
Jennifer is American, but was living in the UK at the time. Marcus is English, but was living in Hong Kong (where, since the wedding, Jennifer has relocated to join him).
This wedding was truly all about family; the whole of Jennifer’s flew in from the USA to join the couple for the big day. The union of these two families will always be memorable; an immensely happy, friendly and welcoming atmosphere prevailed throughout the celebrations.
There was a lot of emotion on their wedding day and Jennifer and Marcus really took care of each other throughout. Their clear devotion to one another was really touching to witness. Together they embraced every element of their celebrations and it was a joy to see them laugh and dance the night away together.
THE FINER DETAILS OF THE DAY
Jennifer and her bridesmaids were assisted by award winning hair and makeup artist Kaz Fernando. Red routemaster buses, provided by Timebus, transported guests to the church ceremony at 3pm and then onto Stoke Place for the wedding reception.
On arrival at Stoke Place, champagne was on ice at the drinks reception. This was accompanied by Mint Julep cocktails that were served with mini US flags to welcome guests from across the pond. Pimms was also served, with Union Jacks adorning the glasses! Guests supped wine and other beverages from Platinum Glasses and Champagne flutes hired from Couvert.
Canapés included Chili infused Prawns with Coriander Pesto, and Wild Mushroom Truffle Filo Tarts. The main wedding breakfast served up delights such as Goats Cheese and Red Onion Tart with Herb Salad for starters, followed by mains of Corn-Fed Chicken with Dauphinoise Potato and Port or Pan-Seared Salmon with a Tarragon Risotto. Wedding cake by Boo Lee Scrumptious was served as dessert, with tiered flavours that included Dreamy Chocolate, Luscious Vanilla and Zingy Lime and Coconut.
Guests sat on Limewash Chiavari Chairs provided by Elite Hire and the tables were adorned with white ripple table cloths from Over the Top and Platinum Bead Charger Plates from Couvert. Jennifer loves foliage rather than flowers, so the unofficial theme for the wedding was ‘urns with ferns’ – but naturally with some stunning white floral details thrown in by Euphoric Flowers, who created all the beautiful blooms for this wedding. Jennifer’s other passion is for the colour green, so the gorgeous stationery included green place cards that featured stunning white calligraphy by Paul Antonio Scribe.
Red Cat Lighting created the ambience by night and got the guests in the mood to be entertained by not one, but two wonderful live bands! Silk Street Hot 7 got the party started and later in the evening Mode Band took over the stage and had guests rocking the dance floor until the early hours.
